Pipeline operators use fibre optic cable as a continuous monitoring system, detecting leaks, temperature changes, and security events along the length of a pipeline route. The specialized monitoring equipment is installed by system integrators — we build the fibre infrastructure that makes it possible.
Outside Plant Construction for DTS/DAS
Distributed temperature sensing (DTS) and distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) turn a length of fibre into a continuous sensor, able to detect temperature changes, vibration, and other physical events anywhere along its length.
That only works if fibre runs continuously along the full monitored route, built to the specifications the monitoring system requires. The specialized DTS/DAS equipment itself is installed separately, by system integrators.
Route Restoration
Pipeline fibre runs through remote, exposed terrain, vulnerable to ground movement, weather, and third-party excavation nearby. When a route is damaged, the monitoring system connected to it goes offline until the fibre is repaired — which makes restoration work time-sensitive by nature.
Testing, Certification & Expansion
Before a monitoring system can be commissioned, and as it grows over time, the underlying fibre network has to meet the same standard throughout.
Fibre Testing & Certification
The fibre route supporting it needs to be tested and the results documented — confirming it performs correctly before the specialized monitoring equipment gets connected. System integrators typically require this documentation before they'll commission the monitoring system.
Network Expansion
As monitoring needs grow — new pipeline segments or added capacity on an existing route — the underlying fibre network has to expand to match, whether that means extending existing routes or building new ones.
